Mary

It was Elizabeth who proclaimed "Who am I that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" Mary is the mother of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God who is consubstantial and inseparable with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Mary is the Christ bearer: "Theotokus." Jesus is one person with two natures. The person that Mary gave birth to was Jesus who revealed himself as "I Am". She did not come before God but was ordained beyond the boundaries of time for her mission to give birth to the Messiah. She is the most holy spouse of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Family is an icon of the family of God in Heaven.  Joseph would not have approached Mary as an earthly spouse since he knew that he was not the biological father of Jesus and Joseph new that Mary had a divine spouse.  Mary remained and remains consecrated, body and soul, to her only true spouse.  She is not only the mother of Jesus but also the mother of all God's children, not through Joseph but rather through the Holy Spirit beyond the boundaries of time.
